Day 1 - 7/9/11

This is a blog of my first car, a 1972 Chevelle and I'm currently 16. She is all original with 116K and metallic gold paint. I bought it from a lady at church. It took over a month for my dad and I to purchase it, over her contemplation and second thoughts. But finally, we got it!

This is how we found it, looks pretty sad and depressed. I immediately ripped the tarp off. Last time for a tarp on it!
A shot of the layer of filth on the body. She didn't have a garage so it has been outside all its life. It sat under a pine tree for the last 5-10 years.
We found a pile of junk in the trunk! But more importantly, very little to no rust in the quarters, the plugs were out. The area around the bumper is another story though. A little bit thin and spongy.
Going through the junk in the trunk.
First look of the interior. She'd be stinky and dirty! Somebody forgot to put the spare back.
Her husband added a volt and an amp gauge and a manual choke. I personally don't like these additions so they will eventually be taken out.
Looking under the hood, I look confused, "where's my V8?"
It has a 250 inline 6. I like how it still has the factory lift points.
Time for a new battery, let the receipts begin!
Me and my car, very happy this day.
We pulled it out of its hole, already it is looking better!
My bro putting in some fuel.
A better look at the motor.

A little quick wash before heading home.
Here's the lady I bought it from. Ready to go home!
Driving home, hope the 20 year old tires hold up!
Made it home safely.
Here's where 75% of the work will take place.
Nice top, just a little peely!
A little photo shoot before the mega clean-up happens!
I love the rear bumper and the quad tails.

The other head rest is on the floor, I probably won't take off the seat cover for awhile.
My new pride and joy.

Jacked it up to take the rear wheel opening trim off and to check the brakes.

Getting the hub caps off and unscrewing the tough screws that held the trim piece.
The brakes checked out, but the shoes are paper thin, probably should replace them.
